Republic In Peril
May 12, 2008 on 2:09 am | In Apparel |I do lots of freelance Tee graphics but an old employer of mine contacted me about doing a project with him. Basically he had this idea for a new line called “Republic In Peril” or R.I.P. He has a great contact for appliqué work so the tops are super heavy on the materials.
Here are some of the graphics:



It’s a bit funny… the line literally is called “Republic In Peril” to give it a bit of an edge, but when I came up with aggressive “political” imagery there was some definite hesitation from the uppers.
When one’s money is at stake, I understand that there’s a lot of trepidation about the “sell-able-ness” of a brand new line. As a result many people push to have something made that looks very similar to what’s selling now. This sometimes works, and sometimes misses the trend. Hopefully R.I.P. will find a good balance.
